Driving Against Extinction

Thursday 28 April 2016

Jo and Daniel Haesslich are field guides at Kariega Game Reserve in South Africa with a deep passion for the natural world around them. They are lucky to work within beautiful nature scenes every day and educate people from all over the world about an amazing variety of species and environment they are blessed to call home.
Jo and Daniel have had the great opportunities to extend their knowledge and interest in nature conservation. They have also met a myriad of dedicated people all doing their bit in the fight against rhino poaching and other conservation battles.

On April 30th Jo and Daniel will be getting married and during their honeymoon they will take on a nature trip which they have called Driving Against Extinction.

Their journey will begin in Kenton-on-Sea (Eastern Cape) and go up the East Coast towards St. Lucia area. Then through Swaziland to see how they deal with wildlife issues, towards the south of Kruger for a few nights to explore a different kind of environment. Then to Pretoria to attend a very special event which is Dancing for Rhinos. They will then head to the Hoedspruit area and then on to Botswana and Namibia.

The purpose of Jo and Daniel's trip will be to create awareness of the great work the 4 conservation organisations, which they have branded on their bakkie. We are thrilled that Jo and Daniel have chosen Helping Rhinos as one of their 4 conservation organisations.  The other three are: Saving The Survivors, Thandi's Endangered Species Association (TESA) and Reserve Protection Agency(RPA).  All four of the organisation supported by Driving Against Extinction are member of the Helping Rhinos iniative Rhino Alliance.

The Driving Against Extinction tour we will be stopping at as many animal rehabilitation centers and wildlife orphanages to hear their stories, how they started and what makes them get up every morning through their everyday struggles.

Jo and Daniel will be sending us updates during their trip that we will post here and keep you updated with their progress. We are sure they will have many heart warming and heart breaking stories to tell.  You can also follw Driving Against Extinction on their Facebook page.
