The Lost Rhinos

In the past 20 years tens-of-thousands of rhinos have been lost, or in some cases, not even born! This includes -

LOST - Thousands of rhino carcasses that were never found

LOST - Hundreds of orphaned calves who were never saved

LOST - Thousands of rhinos who were never born because earlier generations fell victim to the poachers

LOST - Thousands more who perish due to a loss of their natural habitat.

By donating to this critical appeal, you will Help Us Find and Help Us Bring Back these Lost Rhinos by -   

• Saving and rewilding more rhino orphans enabling them to play a role in creating future generations.
• Protecting greater swathes of habitat to stop rhinos from becoming victims of poaching and keeping them in the ecological landscape.
• Creating new populations of critically endangered black rhinos, giving them the space they need to demonstrate natural behaviours and return to historic breeding rates.

Helping Rhinos is an international charity who provide secure, sustainable and healthy ecosystems which are rich in biodiversity and provide an environment where all species of rhino can thrive for generations to come.  We achieve this by creating Rhino Strongholds – expanding wild spaces for wildlife that protect the rhino, preserve their natural habitat and provide for the local people through community-led conservation initiatives.

Our work focuses on three key areas:

• PROTECT the rhino, and the wildlife that share their environment, from poaching and other manmade threats.
• PRESERVE their habitat by restoring and rewilding degraded wild spaces and linking existing rhino habitats through the removal of boundary fences and / or the creation of ‘wildlife corridors’.
• PROVIDE for the people in local communities and enable them to lead on and play an active role in the protection and conservation of rhinos, and contribute to raising global awareness of the threats to rhino.
