CATASTROPHIC IMPLICATIONS FOR RHINO
The coronavirus has turned our lives up-side-down and none more so than in Africa, where rhinos and the Rangers responsible for protecting them need our support more than ever.
Flights are cancelled, the gates are shut and tourism funding has come to an abrupt end. Anti-poaching patrols and other essential conservation operations are at risk. While the world's focus is elsewhere, rhinos are once again facing the real threat of an increase in poaching.
Enter our Prize Draw - Help a Rhino!
In partnership with the Kariega Foundation, Helping Rhinos is running a Special Prize Draw for the rights to name the next baby rhino born at Kariega. With your support, this prize draw will help us to raise enough funds to maintain the anti-poaching patrols protecting the rhino on Kariega. As well as naming the rhino, you will also receive an exclusive high-res colour photo of the newborn baby, a certificate and updates on the development of the calf.
VISIT YOUR RHINO ON A 3 NIGHT KARIEGA SAFARI
And more than that, Kariega Game Reserve is inviting the lucky winner plus a guest to visit Kariega and see the new baby* for themselves. A Three-Night Safari at Kariega** with game drives on one of the Eastern Cape’s most treasured Reserves.
"I am thrilled and excited to be able to offer the lucky winner of ’the Prize Draw the chance to get up close to officially name and photograph the new baby rhino!" says Lindy Sutherland, Founder of the Kariega Foundation.
In addition to supporting the anti-poaching Rangers on Kariega game Reserve, the sale of Prize Draw tickets will also help fund other projects supported by Helping Rhinos who are similarly suffering.
Thandi’s miraculous survival after her poaching incident in 2012 would not have been such a happy ending had it not been for the tremendous team effort on the ground and the outpouring of support worldwide. South Africa continues to lose on average two rhinos every day, reminding us that we really cannot relax our efforts, we must all play our part and be united in our support to help protect them.
Please don’t delay, the Prize Draw is only open until the 1st May 2020.
Thank you for the bottom of our hearts.
* Best endeavours will be made to show the winner the baby rhino they have named, but as these are wild animals we cannot guarantee any sightings.
