Rhino Recovery Fund - Rebuilding a Species

Thursday 18 April 2019

As many as one million plant and animal species are at risk of extinction, the natural world NEEDS US now!

Scientists tell us we are in the middle of the 'sixth mass extinction' where species of fauna and flora are being wiped out at a rate 100 times faster than when the dinosaurs became extinct. The difference between this mass extinction and the previous five is that it is completely driven by man!

WILL YOU HELP PROTECT AND REBUILD A SPECIES?

"The harsh reality is that if the many endangered species, including rhino, and indeed the human race is to have a future on our planet, inaction is not an option. We must act now to address issues such as climate change and loss of habitat that threaten the very existence of rhino beyond our generation".

Simon Jones, Founder and CEO of Helping Rhinos.

This is a stark warning indeed - too many wildlife species, including three of the five rhino species, are now listed as critically endangered, facing extinction and, if we don’t take action now, we could lose them forever.

At Helping Rhinos we are already looking at ways in which we can manage the natural habitat and ecosystems in which rhinos are found, alongside the needs of the human populations who live near by. It is vital that we engage with local communities, share with them the economic benefits of maintaining natural habitat for wildlife, help them to prosper from those benefits and ensure wildlife conservation translates to better education, healthcare and infrastructure for the next generation of wildlife guardians.

But we need your help. By donating to the Rhino Recovery Fund you will be directly contributing the future of our planet and the species that live on it. We know that the natural world is linked in a complex web of existence and humans must be part of its progression, not regression. If we can save an animal as iconic as a rhinoceros, then there is hope for the millions of less well-known species that share the same wild environment?

With your support, the Rhino Recovery Fund will help to:

PROTECT THE LAST RHINOS ON EARTH

We will focus on protecting the most critical populations of rhino that still roam our planet and, with our partners in the field, ensure we create innovative solutions that allow them to thrive for generations to come.

SUPPORT RANGERS ON THE GROUND

We will ensure that our rangers are equipped with the necessary training and equipment, including critical canine support and the latest technology necessary to keep rhino and other wildlife safe in their natural habitat.

PROTECT CRITICAL WILDLIFE HABITAT

We will secure essential wildlife habitat and implement innovative management policies to ensure that all wildlife can thrive in the face of an unprecedented human population growth.

SUPPORT ALL ENDANGERED
FAUNA AND FLORA

Our vision is long-term, to create a natural world whereby all wildlife species can survive and thrive in harmony with humans. We’ve proved it’s possible – with your help we can expand that dream.

CONTRIBUTE TO CRITICAL
SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

We will support scientific research into maintaining a healthy ecosystem with a diverse population of fauna and flora.
We will also support species specific research, such as IVF for rhinos, the only hope that the northern white rhino has of a future.

James Mwenda - Sudan

By helping these iconic mega herbivores to recover from the brink of extinction, by helping to protect their freedom to roam, you will be saving an environment for all wild life for generations to come.
