Join us on Tuesday 27th September at Allenburys Sports and Social Club in Ware, Hertfordshire for an inspirtational talk from Tim Jarvis.
In March 2013 Tim Jarvis returned from Antarctica where he led a team of six men to successfully retrace the legendary polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton’s 1916 southern journey of survival. Using the same rudimentary equipment, period clothing and technology as Shackleton, the team sailed a replica James Caird lifeboat, the Alexandra Shackleton, 1500 kilometres across the Southern Ocean from Elephant Island to South Georgia, before traversing its mountainous interior. This is the first time that anybody has been able to recreate authentically Shackleton’s “double”, regarded by many as the greatest survival journey of all time.
100 years on from Shackleton’s extraordinary achievement, come and hear Tim talk about his own expedition, what inspired and motivated him to undertake it, the challenges faced and the lessons learned.
Tickets are just £10 and available in advance by calling 01920 882189, or you can pay on the door.
Don't miss out on the chance to hear from an incredible man with incredible experiences.
